About Me: Cheap Chirp

I've wanted to do a crafting blog for a while. I am rather atypical in my crafting, and I'm also, not to put too fine a point on it, cheap. I bought my Cricut Expression at a yard sale and I scan Craigslist for cartridges. I was thinking of blog names ... Thrifty Crafter ... Frugal Crafter ... all kinds of things along those lines ... and realized that no, those make me sound like I'm my mother or something. She's frugal; I'm just cheap. I'm a cheapskate with a Cricut. So there we have it.

Overall I tend to be a geek and something of a maker, with a tendency to look at things more from a practical than an artistic perspective. Probably the fact that I'm not all that artistic has something to do with this. I used to do leatherwork, and I intend to get back into it, with the help of my Cricut. I have no urge to decorate my living space with giant flowers or stick words on my walls. I'd rather collect interesting rocks than little plastic high-heeled shoes (yes, they're a thing). I figure there's room in the world for me as well as all the people who make up the target market for the Cricut and its kin, and write the kind of blogs I don't read much.

As for other things about me, well, they're neither here nor there. If my ideas, designs, or occasional rants are useful to readers, they'll be useful no matter who or what I am; if they're not, that wouldn't change if I was that reader's BFF. I'm me: the Cheap Chirp. I'm not affiliated in any way with ProvoCraft, which I suppose I need to mention. Nobody sends me free stuff in exchange for reviews, or for any other reason -- not that I'd turn it down if they did, but I'm too honest and can't squee very well, so I doubt they ever will. I'm just a crafter with a computer -- and a Cricut.
